Mandy from Dorset contacted me in early July with a request to make 20 single paper flowers from maps to be used as table decorations for her upcoming wedding – and liked them so much she came back to me to ask for 16 more!
She requested red, white and blue button centres – for some reason I didn’t get any red ones in any of my photos, but I promise they were there!), so there was clearly a bit of a patriotic theme going on – being based in Poole, perhaps ‘English seaside’?
Mandy wasn’t too worried using any specific maps, but unless the client specifies otherwise, I always try to use Ordance Surveys or atlases with plenty of blue and green on them, as I think these give the most attractive and consistent look. As Mandy lives near the sea, I made sure to incorporate lots of that stunning southern coastline!
Mandy’s wedding was yesterday, so congratulations to her and her new life-partner – my single paper flowers from maps were just one very small part of what was, I am sure, a wonderful day, and I hope you’re now headed off somewhere sunny for your honeymoon!
If you’d like to order single paper flowers from maps to use for your wedding, event, or even just to put on display at home – please get in touch and tell me what you’d like!
